November 2011 / Energy savings through collaboration in the PVC chain

Shin-Etsu, Air Products, AkzoNobel, Huntsman and Wavin signed an agreement in late October to look into the feasibility of energy-saving measures in the chain. Five potential measures have been identified and given priority status. In addition to enhancing their own processes, the companies hope to save energy by working together to make the manufacturing and processing of PVC more sustainable. Taken together, these measures should lead to savings of around 5 per cent, which is equal to the annual energy consumption of 20,000 households.
