Alarms have been installed in the operating systems of our factories. These are designed to inform the operator if something is not functioning as it should. If alarms go off unnecessarily, the operator will find it more difficult to concentrate. For this reason, Shin-Etsu has implemented an alarm-management initiative to reduce the number of unnecessary alarms. Alarm management makes use of procedures, instrumentation and ergonomics to control the number of alarms. This promotes safer working practices.
