Our factories in Botlek and Pernis are among the most efficient within the PVC industry. In 2025, two major energy projects were completed and put into operation: an innovative reaction technology in the VCM plant and a new, energy-efficient dryer in the PVC plant. We are also preparing for further electrification of the PVC plant by establishing a dedicated connection to the 25 kV electricity grid. This will make us less dependent on natural gas as an energy source.
In addition, we are investigating new technologies, such as heat pumps and high-temperature waste heat recovery. All these types of investments reduce our CO2 emissions and contribute to the goals of the EU Green Deal and Clean Industrial Deal.
Our efforts are supported by recognized standards. The factories are, among other things, ISO 50001 certified for energy management, and the PVC plant holds the Operation Clean Sweep Europe certificate, which guarantees that the loss of microplastics during production and transport is kept to a minimum.
